Russell, a Principal in the analytics group, brings over 25 years experience in modeling and analytics to his role at Opera. He has led the design and development of several predictive analytic solutions for the financial service, retail, biomedical, marketing, and defense industries. Most recently, Russell was Director of Transaction Analytics Ltd., and VP of Product Development at ISCHEM Corp. Previous roles include Head of Retail Decision Science at Halifax Bank of Scotland, FVP Transaction Analytics at Chase Card Services, Director of Modeling at HNC Software, and Systems Engineer at Livermore National Lab and McDonnell Douglas.

Russell holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Bioengineering from UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Center for Nonlinear Sciences, Los Alamos; at UC Irvine in Evolutionary Biology; at the California Department of Health Services; and at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute. Russell has published 30 scientific papers; he has been awarded four patents and has five patents pending.
